Family Circus

Well, for those of us that play 40K, I thought you should know in todays News Sentinel, the Family Circus had an awesome cartoon that talks about young Billy wanting to dress up as "tactical Sgt. Tarkus from the Blood Ravens 4th company in Warhammer 40,000".

Ahhh, October

Well, as the fall comes into season, I start thinking of what I would like for 40K for Christmas....
My wife and I usually ask for gift cards from family and co-workers, so we can go out to eat and catch a movie for a goodly amount of the year.  But, I always get myself something for gaming, so, I need to figure out what I need.  I have another trygon, a box of gargoyles, and genestealers for my nids.  I have more orks than GW.  And Tau, I really don't need anymore until a new codex is released.  As for eldar, those are sold so nothing for them. 
I do need some more Warriors as I only have 3, so I could use a couple of boxes of those...  hmmmm?

Gonna get my (bug) game on

Well, Tuesday night, I'm gonna bring a 1500 point Nids list to game against a newbie SM player.  I hope I can give him a good game, as I don't want to turn him completely to the dark side...Warhammer Fantasy (LOL).  I will post results.

Update

Well, it's been a few days (weeks) since my last post, but with vacation and work getting in the way...

Went to Panama Beach on vacation and had a chance to scope out some 40K players from there.  Saw lots of necrons, SM, and IG.  They had some casual games going on Friday night ( a big MTG night there ) as most of their wargamming happens on Sat.  Came back to the promise of getting 40 hours at work with Saturdays off, but, that changed before the end of the week.  :(  So, I missed the tourney @ SciFi City this weekend.

Dark Vengeance

Well, after waiting a while for someone else to do it, I thought I would give my 2 cents on the new box set.
I wasn't going to buy one in the first place, as I don't play chaos or dark angels, but I did want a mini-rulebook and they are going fo $30 on ebay already. So, I figured I would invest the $$$$ to buy the set, get the book and I could sell or trade the rest.

Well, first of all, the figs are awesome, I really love the cultists and the chosen. The dark angels are nice also. The book is great, no having to pack the "tome" around and the how to play/scenarios will help first time players. You get 2 sets of quick reference guides ( 1 on card stock and 1 paper ); a set of dice; templates; and the useless measuring rods. The only thing missing, is the terrain. That's right, no trees, tank traps, barrels, or wreckage.
Overall, I like the looks of the box set, and I think, if you play either of the armies, the figs make the purchase well worth it. The rule book will save having to carry the massive book around and you can never have too many dice and templates. To me, this box set is a hit.

Tau Upgrade

Well, got my Tau broadside upgrade kits from GW.   Must say, I'm rather disapointed with the railguns, as they were kind of warped.  I did build one, though, and found that plastic glue works so far.  This is the 40K Addict....

3rd Place

Well, it was a fun tourney, last week, as acctually 8 people showed up!  The games were kinda slow as we were all feeling out the new rules, but, everything went pretty smooth, as questions were asked and everyone stopped to discuss the rules/answers.  Much blood was shed and it came down to VPs to determine 2nd and 3rd, as Charles and his bugs took a commanding 1st place.  Jason ( greycat ) got 2nd and I got 3rd.  It was good to play Madival, who I've never met before and round 3 placed me against Charles, who I don't think I had played before.
One thing I learned above all, that Ageis lines are gonna be awesome!  Lootas who go to ground, and have a 2+ cover save, and still snap fire!  Since I normally run 2 units of 12-15, thats a lot of fire power to shoot at flyers and opponents and only lose 50% of your already bad shooting.

1st 6th Edition Tourney

Well, today will be my first 6th edition tourney @ SciFi City.  I'm taking Tau, because shooty armies should really rock in this edition.  Will let you know how it turns out.  This is the 40K Addict....

6TH Edition

Well, it's almost here.  I have the new WD with alot of fluffy stuff, but, no real meat.  I'm not buying a new rule book until the set comes out, as I don't need all the fluff.

Fire Prism & Ork Bomma

Well, I started building my fire prism today, hopefully to get done before the next SciFi City tourney.  I really can't wait to tear into the Ork bomma.  It looks really cool.  This is the 40K Addict....

In Kentucky....

Well, I'm in Ky for the holiday weekend, and will see how the gaming community is going.  Didn't bring anything to work on, so as far as hobby stuff, this weekend is shot.  There is, however, one shop in Owensboro and I will attempt to go and see how the 40K is going there.

Tau & Orks -vs- Chaos!  It was a great game and the fact that I got to play against a good friend that I haven't seen in a while, made it even better.

Well only 4 of us showed for the tourney, so there wasn't one, but, we had an awesome 2 on 2 game.

New Trukks and Liquid Green Stuff

Well, finally putting together my 2 new trukks.  Also, trying the new liquid green stuff GW has put out.  Thinking about putting wrecking balls on these trukks, to go with the boarding planks.  Any ork trukk needs planks for those nobz with power claws.

Avengers

New Boyz

Well, I picked up some more boyz, Lootas/Burnas, and another 10 boyz.  I got 2 more trukks to build.  Slowly, I will phase out my old "little" trukks.  I have enough to field a pretty good Speed Freeks list.  I am getting ready for the SciFi City Tourney on the 19th, the boyz should do well.  This is the 40K Addict...

Well, it's the BOYZ!

Well,  I've decided to go with the the boyz for the Sci Fi City tourney on the 19th.   But, I have heard that 2 of the guys who have been at the last two, won't be there. 
I'm leaning on Wazdakka and some bike boyz, with some Killa Kans and a Dread.  I will post the complete list later.   This is the 40K Addict....

What to wear?

Well, got a local tournament, coming in 2 weeks, and I'm torn on what to take.  The last game with my Tau was really bad -vs- Dark Eldar...  I'm leaning towards the boyz or Nids.  The last 2 tournies have had IG, DE, Grey Knights, and 3 SM armies.  All are the bane of both lists.  I could do mech-Dar, but, until a new codex comes out and gives us cheaper units... I don't know.  This is the 40k Addict....

Well, I'm working on a new list for the boyz, as I have a May 19th tourney @ Sci Fi City.  I'm thinking Wazdakka!

Dark Eldar Suck!

Well, I played against a Dark Eldar razorspam list with my Tau... not pretty.  They are fast and shoot a crap load.

Warm Weather

Well, warm weather is around, and altho, I don't do it often, I feel the painting bug biting me.  So, hopefully, I will be able to get some of my Tau primed white, (doing the snow Tau), and maybe start working on my Shas'o.  This is the 40K Addict....

Tuesday Tau

Well, played my new 2000 pt Tau army list against Darrin's IG and altho, I had some really bad rolls, I managed to play the mission to a draw. Would really like to play some different opponents.

A New Game

Well, bought a rule book for Dystopian Wars. It really looks interesting. I might start playing.

Tuesday nights @ SciFi City

Ah a loss

Well, this is more a gaming post than the last one. The last game I played, 2250 Tau -vs- Tau was a loss. I let my opponent run me around the board. I also found out that stealth suit leaders can use a markelight on the move. I am hoping to get to play this Tuesday, altho I will have my MTG cards in case. This is the 40K Addict...

Fixin up the Room

Well, the wife and I have decided to clean up my gaming/computer room, by adding some new shelving units. This should help me by organizing most of my gaming stuff.

Death of the Ard Boyz tourney

Well, just found out that GW is not having the Ard Boyz anymore. Really sucks! As I loved that one, because painted isn't counted. Plus, loved the 2500 point lists. Oh well, this is the 40K Addict....

Swarmlord

Well, started putting the Swarmlord together, today, ran off my 2250 Tau list for Tuesday night's game. Overall, a productive evening. This is the 40K Addict....

New Swarmlord

Well, picked up the new Tyrant/Swarmlord today. Kinda disappointed that it came on only 2 sprues, but, it looks awesome. This is the 40K Addict, later.

Out...

Well, will be out of town for the rest of the week, so won't be able to work on anything. Did a re-work on my 2250 Tau list, wanted to use some stuff I normally don't use, like a Skyray and stealyh suits. I think the Skyray wiil do OK, as I have 12 marker lights, and it has 2 networked ones, so that makes 14. I still think stealth suits are way to expensive for the must have burst cannons, but like the infiltrate ability. This is the 40K Addict...

SUNAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!

Well, it's Sunday, and altho I downloaded "A Princess of Mars" aka, the John Carter of Mars novel on my Kindle Fire, I finally tore myself away long enough to finish my last Hammerhead and put new arms on my Broadside so as to put TL Plasmaguns on him. The Hammerhead has the Ion cannon turrent, as I have 3-4 with railgun. I am going to play my friend Tom next Tuesday with my Tau, as amatter of fact, it will be Tau -vs- Tau. I will let you know how it turns out. This is the 40K Addict...out.

Well, sorry to my 3 followers?

Well, it has been a while, but, I am back. A change in my job schedule, family stuff and just plain laziness has been my downfall. I have decided to update this blog at least once a week, as I find I can do Facebook everyday, I can do this.
Now onto the hobby...

I have recently added to my armies and it is Tau! I had already had some leftovers from when I traded for my Eldar, but bought my friend, Darrin's stuff. And he had lots of it! I will be working on it to get it ready for some serious gaming.
Also, GW has finally released some new figs for my Nids. I will buy one of the Tyrants, but that is all.
