IG

Well, I worked on my IG today, a new squad of lascannons (by the way, Battle Wagon Bits is a great & cheap way to make xtra HW squads), so, I now have heavy bolter, missle launcher, autocannon, & lascannon squads, all these from 2 HW boxes. Finished putting heads on my special weapons team (heavy flamer & 3 flamers), put my old metal capt. on base (thanks Dustin), & put Straken on his base.
I think Straken is going to rock as a commander and from what I hear Marbo is so worth 65 points.

Lazy

Well, after being lazy all weekend, I have to get in gear. Thursday I have to have an attacker force to go against Dustin's defending forces. Now, whether he plays his Grey Knights or Necrons, I won't know, but, my boys will be prepared for either. Have to read more of the Planetstrike rule book.

Planetstrike Game

Well, got in a game of Planetstrike last nite. I played defender vs Dustin's Grey Knights. I learned a lot of things.
1. Orks need to be in "bastions" when defending, as Firestorm is devastating.
2. Lobbas are better than I thought (they were the only unit that killed more than they were worth).
3. My dice rolls suck!
4. No matter how fun it can be, or devastating it could be, shokk atack guns are not worth the points.
5. My dice rolls suck!
6. Orks are poor defenders (maybe my list was poor).
7. Remember to use the Big Shootas/heavy bolters of the bastions.
8. Did I mention, my dice rolls really suck!

Overall, for the first game, it was fun. We both spent a lot of time in the Planetstrike rule book, learn as you burn. We are scheduled to play next week with reversed roles, we shall see how the boyz are as attackers!

Thursday is gameday! Pt Duex

Well, Thursday again! I've gotten no response to any of my Facebook or TennSoldiers(http://www.tennsoldiers.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=16 )challenge for Planetstrike, so I'm taking 3 Ork lists tonite: 1 Defender; 1 Attacker; & 1 Normal list. I'm going a little early to maybe get in 2 games tonite.

Planetstrike

Well, bought my copy of Planetstrike, I love the rules! I think it will make for a great game, something.... refreshing, a change in gaming. You don't have to have an army larger than 2000 pts. so, it won't make for a longer game. Maybe I can get into a game Thursday night. I, being an Ork and all, like the attacker role, but, I could see being the defender. Well, more mowing to do...

Monday, Monday...

Well, not mutch to discuss today, but I told myself when I started this blog, that I would post something almost everyday. Not going to do this one half way. I probably won't get much in the way of 40K done today as I have mowing to do this morning, going to see about a job this afternoon, and hopefully, if she's felling better, going to see Harry Potter with my daughter tonite. But, I still might get some heads attached to my Catachans, I do hate seeing them walking around, bumping into stuff on my table (ha-ha), we'll see.

Ah well, there's always Ebay...

Wow, the economy must really be tanking for everybody. I put my Tau on bartertown and got around a dozen "I'm interested" hits, but only thing that has sold has been my broadsides...

Anyhoo, on to todays to do list. Going to put together my new TL quad autocannon for my converted Hydra flak tank. Got it out of the Aegis defence line box set for Planetstrike. Should fit nicely on top of a chimera body. Now to get a chimera.

Speaking of Planetstrike, it looks really interesting, in non-Apocalypse way (that's how most of us thought it was going to be like, Apoc. right up to the release). The thought of all those troop/elite boyz raining down on some defender just sounds to cool. Just to bad I can't use my stompa!

Thursday Night

Well, went in with the boyz and did OK. Took a shooty boyz list with a Big Mek w/Shock attack gun and Badrukk. Badrukk and his flashgitz are expensive (515 pts.) with a paindok, but they killed in combined shooting and h-t-h a marine assault squad and almost 2 complete tac squads (left 1 heavy weapons guy standing). They way I figure it, they were a wash, as they killed around 550 pts. of marines. The best thing is I got to use my old warboss fig as Badrukk. It was an old ogryn body (square base and all) with a fantasy warboss head. The ripper gun looked great as the "Rippa". I'm definitely going to re-paint him, so I can use him again. The game ended in a draw (we played Capture & Control with a Dawn of War set up). This was his first battle against Orks and the first time I had played him. We both had a good time.
Speaking of painting, I got into a discussion with the leader of a gaming group I'm part of, the Death Jesters, about why we do or don't play in certain tourneys. He dosen't like 'Ard Boyz, because we don't have to paint, and I won't do rogue trader or official tourneys because you do have to paint. As I've said before, I like to play for playings sake. I saw his side, "you could use poker chips if all you wanted to do is play". But, I just don't see that painting should be worth so much in scoring in a game. Rock and a hard place.

Thursday is gameday!

Well, Thursday night is rolling around, my regular game night at our local "hole" in Knoxville, Sci-Fi City. I hope to do better tonite than I did in the 'Ard Boyz tourney. I played Tau and got skunked in the first round & since we had an odd number as 1 guy left, I dropped out to even the number. I got to watch the others play and saw some really scary armies. It was funny, the army that won in our area last year was a nid army, my friend Tom played and it was also second and third this year, and Tom didn't even go this year! Yes, they both copied his list for this year.
Anyway, I'm going back to playing with the Orks, at least I know that army, altho, I'm going to try Badrukk and some Flashgitz. They are expensive point-wise, (almost 500 pts.) but, I won't take my usual Nobs squad. I'm making a shooty boys list.
Also, put my entire tau army on Bartertown (http://www.bartertown.com/trading/index.php) to sell. Need the cash, and I can pay off some bills, and maybe buy some IG for the new army (see, I am addicted!).

Intro

Let me start this meeting by saying...

I'm Tim, and I'm an addict. Yes, I said it. I'm a 40K addict. Have been for about 16 years. During that time I have played one race the whole time, but, have played almost every other army ( I have never played Eldar, built an army once, but never played ). You see, I am an addict, I love to build armies, to put them together, to build lists ( oh the many lists ), and sometimes paint. Sorry, to those of you out there who paint your whole army to field it, I don't. Nothing against you, I'm not that good, being color blind and all, and I play to play. I do some conversions as my army is expected to have some. I've only had one fully painted army ( 3 min. colors ) in all my playing years... A fantasy chaos army, and I don't even play fantasy anymore!
I love new codexes, also. I laugh at the mostly younger players, who as soon as a new codex hits the shelves dumps the old army for the new one. While, secretly, I start one too. Take the new IG, so many guys jumped onto the camo bandwagon. Well, so did I! I had a few plastic Catachans in my bitz box, and once I read the new codex, they jumped onto my hobby table demanding to be assembled. And also, secretly bought some of the new stuff ( No, dear, I don't remember what it was I bought with your credit card at Sci-Fi City! ).

Well, this is a long intro to my addiction, and for those who follow it will watch me not trying to "kick" my habit, but, enjoy it. You will learn more about me, the "ICs" in my life ( Like my lovely and very understanding wife ), a few friends, and my armies.

So, until next time, this is the 40K addict.
